Ketamine and psychedelics are becoming increasingly common in clinical practice, yet
therapeutic methodologies for ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) remain diverse and non-
specific. This seminar offers clinicians a sophisticated, evidence-based framework for combining
ketamine's remarkable neurobiological effects with AEDP's proven capacity for sustainable
emotional healing and attachment transformation. AEDP's highly specific relational and
experiential methodologies synergize naturally with ketamine's transformational properties.
While ketamine serves as a nonspecific amplifier of experience, AEDP provides highly specific
methodologies for harnessing this amplification for healing. More specifically, ketamine can (in
the right setting) reduce anxiety, soften defenses, and allow states of heightened receptivity so
facilitating the innate expansive capacities that AEDP recognizes as transformance and core
experience.
This training combines didactic and experiential components with extensive clinical material
from videotaped sessions of preparation, medicine, and integration sessions. The presenters will
share an emergent AEDP protocol to direct and structure the ketamine experience to optimize its
transformational power. We will also present the collaboration between Mt Sinai and AEDP in
doing one of the first, if not the first. randomly controlled study comparing medicalized ketamine
(ketamine without therapy) with AEDP informed KAP for major depressive disorders (MDD).
