There is a lot of talk in the psychotherapy community lately about psychedelics. What is all the fuss about? This seminar will provide a rough sketch of the basics. We will begin with a brief overview of the ancestral origins of psilocybin, the history of psychedelics in the West / psychedelic assisted psychotherapy, how we arrived here today, and the current state of psychedelic assisted therapy in the United States.
Next, we will go through an overview of psilocybin, MDMA, ketamine, and 5-MeO-DMT (four commonly used medicines) in relation to use / legal status and common effects.
We will discuss AEDP psychotherapy in relationship to these medicines and their potential for synergistic transformational healing. This three hour training is meant to serve as a beginning framework for a professional to be able to have basic knowledge in the area so they they may more comfortably enter into and engage in the conversation about psychedelic assisted psychotherapy.
*NOTE: This is not a training on how to use psychedelics and we are not endorsing the use of illegal substances outside of research settings.
